Policarpa SALAVARRIETA (Guaduas, 1795-Santa Fe de Bogotá, 1817). Called "THE POLA". Colombian lady who conspired against the Spanish royalist regime and helped the patriotic guerrillas. Imprisoned and judged, she was shot together with her fiancé, A. Sasaraín. "PORTRAIT OF POLYCARPA SALAVARRIETA, MARCHA AL SUPLICIO". 19th century. Oil on canvas, 76x95 cm. National Museum. Colombia.
