Artist's Description
The water lily, Nelumbo lutea, in fabric, cross-stitch tapestry, and relief mold patterns. Lithograph by C. G. Schlumberger with pochoir (stencil) handcoloring from Eugene Grasset's Plants and their Application to Ornament, Paris, 1897. Grasset (1841-1917) was a Swiss artist whose innovative designs inspired the art nouveau movement at the end of the 19th century.
